MJP Winner

Just got back from a week under the desert sun. We had a wonderful vacation, made even better by receiving the cover copy for my June 2010 Berkley Heat release Tempting Eden. Talk about hot! I'll post it soon.
I was pretty good---brought the laptop and tried to write a little every day, but not by the pool. The 80s pop music mix was kind of a Regency castle-killer. Right now I am stuck in the middle of a food scene. Must have breakfast and finish it, LOL.
I was very inspired by all the suggestions for making a writer's life luscious. Thanks so much for the great ideas. Mary Jo Putney's Loving a Lost Lord goes to Irisheyes! E-mail your address to and I'll get your prizes out to you.
I have trouble writing with music/noise in the background. What about you?

It's good to have you back online. You wrote even on your vacation? I admire your discipline. Summer has made a slacker of me, I fear.

I can write with background music so long as there are no lyrics involved. Lyrics distract me.

Yay, Maggie's back!!!

It depends for me, but I can usually write with music, etc. on.

You're back! *hugs monitor* I missed you. LOL! Sorry, feeling dramatic on a Monday.

I do better with no music, but writing in public places doesn't seem to bother me. The milling about I can tune out, like Janga, lyrics distract me.

But I'm the same when I read. I don't like to have the radio on while I'm reading either.

I wish I could say I was happy to be home, LOL. The dry weather out west sure was good for all my middle-aged aches and pains. Nothing but damp and thundershowers here. Boo.

Not only can I not write w/noise, I discovered on vacation I need my own keyboard, chair, desk, etc. The laptop just didn't cut it for me (at least that's my excuse for only writing 2,000 words in a week). It's crunch time now, because school starts on August 27. Double boo.
